April 2020 during the midst of the Covid lockdown across the UK, Pets at Home contacted our Head of Business Development Kevin McCook and asked if we could support them on a project. They were wanting to create a Mobile Consultation Unit for in-store that would help safely facilitate a longer conversation between colleague and customer whilst keeping social distancing/safety at the forefront of that interaction, realising COVID safety is utmost important.
Our client already had their own idea of what they wanted but asked us to share ideas of what we had created before for others.
The Consultation Unit needed to be mobile and flexible enough to easily be moved around the store by the colleague, all whilst still being able to interact safely with the customer. This enabled the workers to easily advise and show/ demonstrate relative products to the customer on what their pet is in need of – wherever in the store they may be. A clear view PETG screen was provided, this acts as a safeguard – giving confidence that Covid protection is what is important. All this had to be designed and made with lightweight, yet strong materials that were supportive of the brand and its guidelines.
We also built in a security cabinet as well as future proofing the unit to be further developed during and or after the pandemic had abated i.e. mobile till facility for an iPad system, as well as a adaptable header system that could take out the screen and still be eye catching and robust. All this within a pre-defined budget from a very supportive and precise client. Project completed.
We were able to fully deliver and share this solution within 8 weeks across 192 of the 450 stores.
